Web-chat widget
A web-chat widget is the embeddable chat bubble that lives on a business's website, letting visitors talk to the AI agent directly from the page. The agent reads the page context, answers questions, books appointments, and captures the lead, all from the bubble.
Why it matters
Service-business websites used to have static contact forms ("submit your inquiry, we'll reply within 24 hours"). The conversion rate on those forms is depressing. Modern visitors expect a real-time response; the contact form is a friction point that loses customers.
The web-chat widget solves it: a small chat bubble in the corner of the page, always visible. A visitor with a question can ask it; the agent answers in seconds; the conversation flows into a booking, a lead capture, or a clear no. No "submit and wait for email."
The pattern works because the agent has full conversational ability and access to the business's real data (calendar, pricing, services). A visitor asking "do you have availability this Saturday for a balayage?" gets a real answer ("yes, 11am or 2pm; want one?") from the agent within seconds, and books on the spot.
Trade-offs:
- Embed performance. A poorly-implemented widget slows down the page. Production widgets lazy-load, render quickly, and respect the host page's design.
- Context limits. The agent on the chat widget only knows the business; not the visitor's full conversational history elsewhere. (Once they identify themselves, the agent can pull their record.)
- Channel handoff. When the visitor wants to continue the conversation later, the widget needs to capture phone/SMS so the agent can follow up on a real channel.
How Ajeris handles this
Ajeris's business setup wizard provisions a web-chat widget as part of the 5-minute setup. The owner gets a script tag to paste into their site; the widget appears as a chat bubble in the corner.
The widget connects to the same agent that answers the business phone, so customer history and booking flow are unified. Conversations that get serious (the visitor wants to book or has questions the agent escalates) hand off to the owner via SMS.
