A2P 10DLC
The framework US carriers use to govern Application-to-Person SMS sent from regular 10-digit phone numbers. Requires brand registration, campaign approval, and ongoing compliance. Failure to comply means messages get filtered.
Why it matters
If your AI agent texts customers from a normal-looking phone number (versus a short code like 5-6 digits), you are operating under A2P 10DLC rules. The rules determine whether your messages reach the customer at all (or get filtered as spam by the carrier), what you can charge per message, and what your monthly carrier fees are.
For a business AI agent that does serious customer messaging, A2P compliance is not optional; non-compliant traffic is silently dropped by carriers.
How Ajeris handles this
The business setup wizard collects the information the campaign registry requires (legal entity, business identity, use case, sample messages) and submits on behalf of the business. Different message types route through the right campaign automatically (transactional, customer care, marketing). Compliance enforcement at send time (STOP/HELP honouring, TCPA quiet hours, opt-out ledger) is baked into the agent.
